How long will it take me to finish aleyos 101?

There are over 7 hours of class work available. You can choose to do 1 module a week, or go on a binge on a weekend. It’s really up to YOU. You decide on how fast you want to consume the information. There are actionable items on most modules, which may take some time to digest, but this is a personal choice. Some folks have finished it in a week… but it’s suggested to do them a week at a time.

No – You do not need to have a godparent to take Aleyos 101. This is an intense course on the basics of Lukumi and Isese traditions to help you in connecting in the beginning and through important protocols that usually come with lots of time in the traditions.

I HAVE A GODPARENT - CAN I STILL TAKE ALEYOS 101?

You sure can! As a courtesy, it is always best to let your godparent know that you will be taking this course. Aleyos 101 is helpful for those who are new to the traditions – especially with knowing protocols (how to behave in public events, what to expect, and many other things that can cut down the learning curve for any aleyo. This in no way conflicts with any lineage, as I am very aware of the differences and would not want a brand new aleyo or aborisha to go against their lineage. Aleyos 101 will empower you…. and you will not feel so lost.

WILL I BE LEARNING SPELLS IN ALEYOS 101?

No! Aleyos 101 is a deep immersion into our culture. Who are the Orisas, Eggun (Ancestral worship), and working with a priest as examples. Our tradition is not about doing ‘spells’. In order to adhere to the culture, one would have to go and get a spiritual reading and then follow the prescribed ebo (sacrifice) given by the oracle.

WILL I BE A PRIEST WHEN I FINISH ALEYOS 101?
